Security Officer

Job Summary

PCC Logistics – Division 30 is seeking professional, dependable, and highly observant Security Officers to provide gate security, access control, yard patrols, trailer inventory management, and facility security operations. Officers are responsible for maintaining a secure environment by controlling facility access, conducting scheduled foot patrols, performing QR code scans, monitoring refrigerated trailers, documenting all site activity, assisting drivers and visitors, enforcing company policies, and responding appropriately to emergencies and security incidents.

The ideal candidate demonstrates professionalism, integrity, excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while ensuring compliance with client procedures and company policies.



Responsibilities

General Security Duties

  • Report for duty using the Team Xpress App.

  • Complete Time Tracking Forms with QR verification and timestamp photos when required.

  • Respond to Dispatch safety check calls approximately every two hours.

  • Remain alert, attentive, and visible throughout the shift.

  • Maintain full company uniform and professional appearance at all times.

  • Follow all company policies regarding meal periods, rest breaks, and break documentation.

  • Maintain assigned work areas, security booth, and equipment in a clean and organized condition.

  • Follow all company vehicle policies and DMV regulations when operating company vehicles.

  • Never abandon an assigned post without proper relief and Dispatch authorization.



Access Control & Gate Operations

  • Monitor all vehicle and pedestrian access points.

  • Verify employee credentials using Panasonic Toughbook scanners.

  • Process QR, barcode, RFID, and NFC employee badge scans.

  • Maintain manual sign-in/sign-out logs for employees without badges.

  • Verify visitor authorization with PCC Management prior to granting access.

  • Maintain accurate records of all personnel entering and exiting the facility.

  • Record multiple entries and exits for the same employee.

  • Report scanner or access control issues immediately to Management.

  • Deny unauthorized access and document all incidents.

  • Remain posted and visible at the guard booth during assigned shifts.



Truck Processing & Log Sheet Procedures

  • Process inbound and outbound commercial vehicles.

  • Record:

    • Driver name

    • Company

    • License plate

    • Trailer number

    • Container number

    • Chassis number

    • Seal number

    • Driver signature

  • Verify container status as Empty or Loaded.

  • Record reefer temperatures, including:

    • Set temperature

    • Running temperature

  • Verify outbound documentation against Bills of Lading.

  • Inspect outbound empty trailers before allowing departure.

  • Correct documentation using approved correction procedures.

  • Maintain complete and accurate gate logs.



Restricted Access Procedures

  • Enforce restricted access hours:

    • Weekdays: 1900–0500

    • Weekends

    • Holidays

  • Verify identification of all authorized personnel.

  • Contact client representatives before admitting unauthorized visitors.

  • Keep vehicle gates closed during restricted hours.

  • Report unauthorized entry attempts.

  • Contact law enforcement when necessary.



Patrol Responsibilities

  • Conduct foot patrols every 45 minutes.

  • Complete QR code scans at designated checkpoints.

  • Patrol:

    • Fence lines

    • Warehouse doors

    • Electrical panels

    • Propane storage

    • Trailer parking areas

  • Observe and report:

    • Suspicious persons

    • Theft

    • Vandalism

    • Safety hazards

    • Property damage

  • Upload timestamped patrol photos.

  • Submit patrol updates through the company Viber communication platform.

  • Notify Dispatch and client representatives of urgent safety concerns.



Trailer Inventory & Reefer Monitoring

  • Conduct complete trailer yard inventories.

  • Record trailer numbers and locations.

  • Verify trailer identification tags.

  • Monitor:

    • Set temperatures

    • Running temperatures

    • DEFROST cycles

    • Trailer status

  • Ensure frozen reefers remain powered.

  • Compare trailer information with inventory sheets.

  • Report temperature discrepancies immediately.

  • Complete Reefer Observation Reports (ROT) and Incident Reports when required.

  • Photograph temperature discrepancies.

  • Return completed inventory sheets after each patrol.



Yard Security Procedures

  • Maintain current plug-in inventory lists.

  • Update lists with newly arriving containers.

  • Submit updated inventory documentation daily.

  • Place security cones after Roadies personnel depart.

  • Notify Dispatch prior to conducting yard inspections.

  • Carry the site phone while conducting yard checks.

  • Monitor incoming truck traffic during inspections.

  • Verify reefer operating temperatures before allowing outbound departures.

  • Verify inbound and outbound photographs and seal inspections.



Scanner Transaction Procedures

  • Operate Panasonic scanning devices for PCC employees and contractors.

  • Create inbound and outbound transactions.

  • Verify:

    • Driver information

    • Company

    • Container number

    • Chassis number

    • Seal number

    • Transaction type

  • Capture required transaction photographs.

  • Photograph seals whenever seal numbers are entered.

  • Submit completed electronic transactions.



Truck Check-In Procedures

  • Complete Truck Check-In Sheets for after-hours arrivals.

  • Record:

    • Appointment information

    • Driver information

    • Truck information

    • Contact information

    • Officer name

  • Direct drivers to wait off-site until contacted by Receiving.

  • Deliver completed check-in sheets to Receiving Management.

  • Process returning drivers through normal gate procedures.



Roadies Delivery Procedures

Deliveries

  • Verify driver identification.

  • Record:

    • Driver name

    • Company

    • Trailer license

    • Container number

    • Seal number

    • Entry time

  • Obtain driver signatures.

  • Direct deliveries to Door 77.

  • Verify outbound documentation upon departure.

Pickups

  • Verify identification.

  • Obtain signatures.

  • Record vehicle information.

  • Direct pickups to Door 75.

  • Complete checkout documentation.

Package Returns

  • Verify driver identification.

  • Record package quantities.

  • Monitor package drop-off.

  • Verify returned package counts before departure.

  • Record gate exit times.



Private Property Enforcement

  • Monitor unauthorized individuals.

  • Issue verbal trespass warnings.

  • Request trespassers leave private property.

  • Contact law enforcement when necessary.

  • Never physically engage trespassers.

  • Document all incidents.

  • Photograph incidents when safe.

  • Ensure gates remain secured during patrols.



Reporting Responsibilities

  • Complete Daily Activity Reports (DARs).

  • Complete Incident Reports (IRs).

  • Document:

    • Who

    • What

    • When

    • Where

    • How

    • Witnesses

  • Maintain accurate records of:

    • Patrols

    • Vehicle inspections

    • Access control

    • Security incidents

    • Maintenance concerns

  • Utilize Viber communications to support report documentation.



Emergency Response

  • Respond appropriately to medical, fire, and security emergencies.

  • Contact 911 during emergencies.

  • Notify Dispatch and client representatives immediately.

  • Meet emergency responders at the facility entrance when safe.

  • Assist emergency personnel with site access and directions.

  • Complete all required incident documentation.



Qualifications

  • Previous security experience preferred.

  • Valid California Guard Card required.

  • Excellent observation and communication skills.

  • Strong report writing abilities.

  • Ability to follow detailed post orders and security procedures.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Comfortable performing prolonged standing and walking patrols.

  • Ability to operate:

    • Smartphones

    • QR scanning systems

    • Panasonic Toughbook devices

    • Mobile reporting applications

    • Time Stamp applications

  • Strong customer service and professionalism.

  • Reliable transportation and punctual attendance preferred.
