Father Joe's Villages

About

Father Joe's Villages, founded in 1950, is Southern California's largest homeless services provider. Based in San Diego, the organization operates on a philosophy of 'Neighbors Helping Neighbors,' offering a continuum of care that addresses both immediate needs and the root causes of homelessness. It provides nightly housing for more than 2,500 people and has helped more than 12,000 individuals into permanent housing over the past decade.

The organization's services extend beyond emergency and transitional shelters to include permanent affordable housing initiatives such as the Turning the Key development program. Its comprehensive model integrates support services with housing, including the Village Health Center, Behavioral Health Services, Substance Use Treatment, and Employment and Job Training programs. It also operates Therapeutic Childcare services for families.

Father Joe's Villages is active across Southern California, with a significant presence in downtown San Diego. Its work spans the sectors of homeless services, social services, healthcare, affordable housing, and community development. The organization's guiding philosophy recognizes that ending homelessness requires a comprehensive approach that meets basic needs while investing in long-term solutions for the community's most vulnerable residents.
